Colon Hydrotherapy

The Equipment
The Colonic Irrigation equipment we use is built in Germany. Water passing through it is filtered, temperature controlled, sterilised, pre-warmed. It has a self-cleaning program that is used between clients and features numerous dials that allow the Colon Hydrotherapist to vary the procedure greatly depending on the individual needs of each client. In an ‘Open Colonic’ system, there is no variation in the procedure which does not suit everybody. For example, if there is a large blockage in the colon, the pressure may need to be adjusted to avoid distending the bowel causing discomfort, possible cramping and perhaps damaging the bowel wall.
The Hydrotherapy equipment is disinfected between sessions, the tubing, speculum, gloves and table coverings are all disposable and medical grade disinfectant is used to wipe all surfaces between every session.
Length of Consultation
The colonic treatment takes between 30 and 45 minutes based on the assessment of your therapist and your own preferences.
There is a 5 minute bathroom stop before the session begins to empty your bladder and 10 minutes required after, so in all, 1 hour is the usual required appointment time.
On your first visit, however, a personal details and health form needs to be completed which takes approximately 15 minutes at the beginning of your 1 hour appointed time.
Few of us realize that failure to effectively eliminate waste products from the body causes fermentation and putrefaction (rotting of waste matter) in the colon.”
– Dr Norman W Walker, PhD, D.C., Author of Colon Health

The Questionnaire
As with all modalities, a health check is required to give your colon hydrotherapist a clear understanding of your history, your aims and your current state of health. This questionnaire is an important part of the process so that contraindications to the colonic procedure may be checked. As safety is an important part of any procedure, please understand that should you not qualify, your colonic may be rescheduled or cancelled for your own safety if contraindications in your questionnaire dictate it to be so.
Your colon hydrotherapist has a comprehensive understanding of digestive health and will discuss, during the course of your treatment, what your stools indicate relating to your digestive physiology.
It is more important to know what sort of person has a disease than to know what sort of disease a person has

Colon Hydrotherapy Aftercare
After your colonic, it is advisable that you refrain from rich, spicy foods and alcohol for at least 24 hours.
Some water is absorbed through the bowel wall during your colonic, it is therefore normal for you to experience an increased need to urinate for a few hours afterwards. This beneficial effect of flushing the kidneys can be enhanced by drinking a few glasses of water with the juice of half a lemon added to each glass.
As the colon has been cleared of solid matter, it may take one to four days to fill up again and normal bowel movements to resume.
On occasion, it is possible to feel a slight headache or fatigue after your first or second colonic. If this is the case for you, it is advisable that you book another colonic as soon as possible within 2-3 days. In the immediate short term, rest and a large glass or two of water will help.
In some cases, a little bloating may be experienced as gasses make their way to the exit. Again, rest will help, a hot water bottle may make a difference and warm peppermint tea usually calms away the discomfort.
In very rare cases, the tiredness can persist for a few days as the body continues to detoxify itself. In these cases, it is highly recommended to have another colonic to accelerate the cleansing process.
